Sunscreen dispenser boards at the 2026 National Ploughing Championships
The HSE’s National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) and Healthy Ireland will be making sunscreen dispenser boards available to those attending the 2026 National Ploughing Championships event. The sunscreen dispenser boards will be at the entrances and exits of the Government of Ireland marquee in the Health Hub.
Sunscreen is designed to be your final line of defence in protecting skin from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation as no sunscreen provides 100% protection against skin damage or skin cancer. Sunscreen should always be used alongside other sun protective measures such as clothing and shade to protect against skin cancer.
The HSE is also taking its national vape prevention campaign to the National Ploughing Championships to engage directly with young people, parents, and rural communities. The HSE is utilising the platform of the Ploughing Championships to highlight the health risks of youth vaping and provide resources for meaningful family discussions.
The National Cancer Registry of Ireland at the 2026 National Ploughing Championships
The National Cancer Registry of Ireland (NCRI) will be exhibiting at the 2026 National Ploughing Championships event, which takes place in Co. Offaly from 15–17 September 2026. At the NCRI stand, they will:
- showcase the work of the Registry,
- explain how cancer data is collected and used,
- highlight key cancer trends and statistics,
- and demonstrate how NCRI information supports cancer service planning, research, and policy development.
Participation in the event will help increase public awareness of the NCRI’s role and promote trust and transparency in the use of national cancer data.
The NCRI stand will be located within the Government of Ireland marquee in the Health Hub, alongside other public sector and health organisations.
